Will commitment of 4-star CB Gregory Thomas speed up the timeline for RB target?
Florida State football's coaching staff has been red hot on the recruiting trail as they now have the 35th-best recruiting cycle in the 247Sports Composite rankings. Do you think that they are finished? Of course, they aren't.
They still have several uncommitted prospects set to make their decisions in July. You can click here if you missed my predictions article about the recruits.
Plot twist, the Seminoles were able to get an important recruit in their 2025 cycle with four-star cornerback Gregory "Zae" Thomas from American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It seemed like the worst-kept secret as Thomas has been trending positively for Florida State for months.
The American Heritage High School standout was the first defensive back prospect that assistant coach Patrick Surtain Sr. secured for his position group. It makes matters even better, he is part of the Seminole Tribe and was virtually meant to be in the garnet and gold.
Florida State has obtained five commitments in the last couple of days with four-star wide receiver CJ Wiley, four-star tight end Chase Loftin, four-star defensive tackles Kevin Wynn and Myron Charles as well as four-star cornerback Gregory Thomas.
With Thomas in the recruiting class, it could be a perfect opportunity for the Seminoles to create an American Heritage High School pipeline. One prospect from the high school ranks that Florida State is heavily involved with is four-star running back Byron Louis.
Louis and Thomas have a great relationship with one another. The talented rusher officially visited Florida State during the massive June 21st weekend. Louis was once considered to be favoring the Ohio State Buckeyes, but the crystal ball predictions have trended towards Florida State.
The running back did indicate that he wanted to commit in the summer, but he did not disclose a date. With his high school teammate pledging to the Seminoles, could this be a matter of time before Louis decides to commit to Florida State?
I think this will speed up the process as the coaching staff looks to get him into the recruiting class.
