Florida State had an impressive feat this offseason where the Seminoles secured several prospects via the transfer portal. The coaching staff pitched its success on the football field where it accomplished an undefeated regular season and a conference championship last season.

Our very own ChopChat staff writer Kelvin Hunt wrote an article about redshirt senior defensive back Greedy Vance Jr. planning to enter the transfer portal. During the 2023 season, he recorded 18 total tackles and one interception.

Vance Jr. was a rotational piece for the Seminoles in their slot cornerback position last season. While it is hard to see the Louisiana native plan to enter the transfer portal, Florida State does have options at its disposal.

One name to monitor is Alabama redshirt sophomore cornerback Earl Little Jr. The talented defender did not play much during his two seasons with the Crimson Tide where he had two total tackles.

The move to transfer for Vance Jr. could indicate that Little Jr. is progressing nicely in the slot cornerback position. Fans have not heard much about the Alabama defensive back transfer during spring practices.

However, the former four-star prospect in the Class of 2022 has an opportunity to showcase his talents by wearing the garnet and gold. The American High School standout was a prospect that the Seminoles heavily recruited. He was previously coached by Florida State assistant coach Patrick Surtain Sr.

This made perfect sense since the familiarity and comfort level were associated with the Florida State program. Plus, they were losing guys to the NFL Draft/graduation such as Renardo Green, Jarrian Jones, and Akeem Dent.

Defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. has a group of secondary pieces that involve players such as Azareye'h Thomas, Fentrell Cypress II, and Shyheim Brown. The unit would like to force more takeaways this upcoming season as they generated ten turnovers.
