FSU football coaches brought in some talented guys from the transfer portal on both sides of the ball. The talent influx has created the most competitive spring camp of the Mike Norvell era. It was no secret there would be some current guys on the roster entering the transfer portal, and the first one to announce is defensive back Greedy Vance Jr.

Vance transferred from Louisville to the Noles before the 2022 season shortly after Jarvis Brownlee transferred to Louisville. At the time, it was almost like the two teams orchestrated a trade, and FSU probably got the better end of the deal. Vance was productive in his two years at FSU, playing the nickel position in the defense, and the FSU secondary was among the best nationally in 2023. However, the secondary is arguably one of the most talented units on the field. FSU coaches have done an excellent job signing top talent from the high school ranks and adding top guys like Earl Little Jr. from the transfer portal. Greedy Vance was a good teammate and was helpful to Destyn Hill when he arrived last season since they were former high school teammates. I know some fans might be surprised, but we hadn't heard much from the coaching staff regarding Vance standing out at practice. This situation is merely the level of competition getting raised to a new level. It's something I discussed on the latest podcast I uploaded this afternoon. FSU coaches and The Battle's End have a track record of keeping the guys they feel they have to keep. I'm sure they will give Greedy props to assist him in finding a new home with one year of eligibility remaining. I expect former blue-chip recruit and Alabama transfer Early Little Jr. to likely take the starting spot at the nickel position in the defense.
