Will 4-star DB target Gregory Xavier Thomas commit to the Noles?
Florida State is attempting to secure an elite 2025 recruiting class haul. They are already off to a great start with five-star offensive lineman Solomon Thomas, four-star quarterback Tramell Jones Jr., four-star defensive end Javion Hilson, and four-star linebacker Ethan Pritchard.
However, the coaching staff knows that it has a way to go with obtaining prospects. They now have a consistent on-the-field product along with their recruiting efforts after having an undefeated regular season and an ACC Championship in 2023.
One prospect that fans should monitor would be four-star cornerback Gregory Xavier Thomas from American Heritage High School in Plantation (FL). Thomas has showcased mutual interest with Florida State by visiting Tallahassee several times over the last few months.
The talented defensive back currently has four crystal ball predictions in favor of the Seminoles. Not to mention that Florida State defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. was previously the head football coach at American Heritage High School. As a result, he is very familiar with the school as well as the prospects there.
On Monday night, Thomas went to his Twitter (X) account that he had an announcement that he would make on Tuesday at noon EST.
This could be the commitment that Florida State football fans have been waiting for. Thomas is a talented prospect who is the 111th-best prospect according to the 247Sports rankings. It would certainly be an encouraging trend for Surtain Sr. as he looks to solidify his defensive back haul. Several targets are on the board, but Thomas has a high upside with room to grow.
As it pertains to Thomas, he is a tall cornerback who is very physical in man-to-man coverage. Seminole fans have only seen two commitments within the past five months. This would be something that could springboard Florida State recruiting as we navigate into the Garnet and Gold Spring Showcase in April.
