What are the three most glaring needs for the Noles out of the transfer portal?
LINEBACKER
Florida State has routinely discussed the linebacker position when talking about recruiting. This was been especially true considering that redshirt seniors Kalen DeLoach and Tatum Bethune will no longer be suiting up in the garnet and gold anymore.
The Seminoles will have one of their starters back from a season ago in DJ Lundy. However, Florida State will rely upon a player such as Blake Nichelson, Omar Graham Jr., Shawn Murphy, and/or Justin Cryer to step up in elevated roles.
Florida State's 4-2-5 defensive scheme typically utilizes two linebackers. As a result, the position itself isn't as vitally important. However, the coaching staff quickly had to adjust to a 4-3 scheme when they were struggling to slow down opposing teams' rushing attacks.
Overall, that is a ton of trust that is being put into reserves that have not played a ton of significant snaps in their respective careers. I believe that it would be wise to snag a veteran linebacker with experience. For reference, it does help that Auburn linebacker transfer Cam Riley will be visiting this weekend.
