Florida State football continues to conduct its spring practice as they will be participating in their scrimmage on Thursday. With spring practices, there comes a time of adjustment and growth. During a recent media session, head football coach Mike Norvell discussed the concern over dropped passes.

Dropped passes come with a lack of focus and concentration. This is somewhat understanding given that the program is having to replace the likes of Keon Coleman, Johnny Wilson, and Jaheim Bell who have all declared for the 2024 NFL Draft.

However, Norvell did allude to the fact that the wide receivers were able to create separation (which is half the battle) but could not secure the grab. However, on Tuesday afternoon, he did suggest that the dropping issue has gotten better.

There will ultimately still be a learning period given that the Seminoles are having to replace many offensive pieces. This is a football with thirty-eight scholarship newcomers. As a result, it will be an adjustment with every single day of practice until they get into their groove.

Fans have to remember that it is only the month of March and we are still about three weeks away from the Garnet and Gold Spring Game on April 20th. It would be more concerning if Norvell stated that the wide receivers were having drop issues late in fall camp.

There will continue to be healthy competition between the wide receivers and the defensive backs. Veterans such as Ja'Khi Douglas, Kentron Poitier, Malik Benson, and Darion Williamson will have to hold the younger receivers accountable and lead by example.

I am confident that wide receivers coach Ron Dugans will have these players ready to go by the time Florida State takes on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Ireland to kick off the 2024 season.
