No. 10 Florida State fell to Georgia Tech in their Week 0 matchup 24-21 to make them 0-1 on the season. It was a tough loss and really one no one saw coming, but clearly Georgia Tech is better than anyone thought.

Head coach Mike Norvell spoke to the media after the game and praised Georgia Tech for coming out and competing from the first kickoff.

"Give credit to Georgia Tech, hard-fought game," Norvell said.

Norvell spoke about how he felt his team prepared for the game well and was in the right mindset. The mindset was something everyone questioned about Florida State this season after what happened last season when they were left out of the College Football Playoff after going undefeated and being the ACC Champion.

It is easy to prepare and get hyped up for another season, but once you get into the game, how you handle things is all that matters and Florida State wasn't able to handle things well during the game against Georgia Tech.

"As we got into the game, it was the smallest of things," Norvell said. "Whether it's disciplined in a call or disciplined in execution there are things where as a coaching staff, I have to be better at putting our guys in the position to go and make those plays in the moment."

The game was tight the entire time with no team having more than a one-possession lead at any time. It was tied going into halftime 14-14 and both defenses played well in the third quarter to keep the game knotted at 14.

A touchdown by Georgia Tech put some pressure on Florida State and even though they responded, it was late in the game and once the Yellow Jackets got the ball, they never gave it up again.

" For our football team, it's all about our response from here," Norvell said. "You come you work, you want to start off the season a certain way and we came up short of that tonight."

Florida State can not afford to dwell on this game because they have one in a little over a week and they have an entire season ahead of them. One loss is no longer a nail in the coffin for the College Football Playoff, so this team needs to pull it together and focus on the season ahead of them.
