Florida State football has suffered two losses in the 2024 season versus Georgia Tech and Boston College. It has been a painful campaign and we still have ten regular season games remaining.

The Seminole faithful is trying to remain positive but when the team who was projected to win the conference and make the College Football Playoff in the preseason, it becomes difficult to instill confidence in the squad.

When it rains, it pours... It was announced that junior running back Jaylin Lucas suffered a season-ending injury versus Boston College. Lucas was a playmaker in the offense as well as in the return game which the coaching staff was excited about.

The program seems to be lacking excitement in the offense, especially with quarterback DJ Uiagalelei struggling on the field. One of the few bright spots in the Boston College game was veteran 6'3" pass catcher Kentron Poitier. He recorded three receptions for 79 yards and one touchdown in the game.

The offense needs more dynamic playmakers like Poitier. On Monday afternoon, head football coach Mike Norvell talked about sophomore wide receiver Hykeem Williams and his availability. The former five-star prospect has not played this season due to injury issues.

Norvell stated that he fully expects Williams to be available in the game and play. This is an encouraging sign as most fans thought that he would have taken the next step forward after veterans Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson went to the NFL. However, he has not been able to find his groove and has looked to be trying to find his footing since.

The playmaker only had five receptions for 80 yards and one touchdown last season so the expectation of being a number-one wide receiver might be a bit much at this time during his development. However, he is a very talented option that needs to be played if he is healthy and ready to make a difference in the offense.
