I wrote a few days ago that FSU football recruiting would pick up steam just as it did a year ago, entering into July. The Noles had the No. 70 overall ranking with four blue-chip players and added two highly-coveted blue-chip players in as many days earlier this week in Kevin Wynn and CJ Wiley. FSU has six commitments, all blue-chip players, with several more expected to make their commitment decisions public over the next couple of weeks. Here are the commitment dates we know:

  • Gregory Zae Thomas: June 30
  • Zaydrius Rainey-Sale: July 1
  • Tavion Wallace: July 2
  • Peyton Joseph: July 4

Thomas is the No. 292 player nationally, the No. 25 safety, and the No. 42 in the Sunshine State. He'll choose between Clemson and FSU.

Rainey-Sale is the No. 142 player nationally, the No. 17 linebacker, and the No. 1 in Washington State. He'll choose between Washington and FSU.

Wallace is the No. 97 player nationally, the No. 6 linebacker, and the No. 10 in the Peach State. He'll choose between Georgia, Florida, and FSU.

Joseph is the No. 177 player nationally, the No. 8 interior offensive lineman, and the No. 26 in the Peach State. He'll choose between Memphis and FSU.

The consensus is that FSU is the favorite to land at least three of these players unless something drastically changes. They could land all four, but I wouldn't bet the house on it. If they land three, that would be FSU at nine commitments, all listed as blue-chip players in the top 350. It would move FSU into the top 30 with the least commits listed and one of the highest per-player averages nationally. There's more great news. FSU has several more top targets who'll likely announce decisions before July ends. I asked where FSU would rank at the end of July recently, and they should be among the top 25 with ease.
