FSU football: The Marching Chiefs unveil their new uniforms versus Clemson
Florida State football has had a disappointing 2024 season with losses to Georgia Tech, Boston College, Memphis, and SMU. The Seminoles' fan base was expecting so much more coming into the season.
The program had a combined 23-4 record in 2022 and 2023. Florida State finished with an undefeated regular season and a championship last year. As a result, expectations were high as individuals (other than ESPN's Paul Finebaum and Greg McElroy) thought that this could be a stepping stone for head football coach Mike Norvell and his squad.
However, the Seminoles have been underperforming this season as they are 1-4 on the season, with their only victory this year coming against California. Florida State is welcoming in the red-hot Clemson Tigers, who have made easy work of their opponents since losing to Georgia in the season opener.
It will be interesting to see how interested this fan base will be with the team with their disappointing start. Florida State will be facing off versus the Tigers in the friendly confines of Doak Campbell Stadium. Even though the stadium is under renovations this season, the last home contest caused the California offense to have many false start penalties.
Many individuals thought that the Florida State-Clemson showdown could have had a real possibility of being the site for College Gameday in the preseason. However, the Seminoles did not hold the end of their bargain as they are stationed in California for the Golden Bears' matchup versus arch-rival Miami.
With many individuals seeming to give up on the Seminoles' football program this year, I know one collective group that rides and dies by cheering on Florida State: The Marching Chiefs. They have always been one of the biggest supporters of the team.
The Marching Chiefs have not been wearing their uniforms this season as they were waiting for the shipment to come in. They finally have their uniforms come in and will be debuting them in tonight's matchup versus Clemson.
Maybe this is just what the Florida State Seminoles need to turn their season around (wishing thinking...). I realize that individuals were frustrated with the amount of DJ music playing in Doak Campbell Stadium and the fact that the team prohibited the Marching Chiefs from playing the war chant on third downs. However, they have fixed the issue, and they have made their presence known.
I hope that the Marching Chiefs bring a ton of excitement and energy to Doak Campbell Stadium for the huge showdown. Florida State will certainly need it.
