Florida State football is beginning to start their 2024 season opener versus the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday, August 24th at noon EST.

However, it seems like some individuals such as Greg McElroy and Paul Finebaum are stuck in the past with continuously harping on the Seminoles. As most of you know, Florida State was excluded from the four-team College Football Playoff last year in favor of a one-loss Alabama team.

The Seminoles' coaches, players, support staff, and fan base were very upset over the outcome, especially considering that the program went undefeated and handled its business. However, it did not seem to matter as Florida State felt like the entire 2023 season was meaningless.

We highlighted last time that Finebaum stated that he expects Florida State to be unranked at the end of the 2024 season. I realize that the Seminoles added pieces via the transfer portal such as quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, wide receiver Malik Benson, and defensive end Marvin Jones Jr. However, Florida State still returns quality pieces such as offensive lineman Darius Washington, defensive end Patrick Payton, and cornerback Azareye'h Thomas.

On Wednesday, Finebaum went on ESPN radio to make the following statement about the Seminoles: "The best part about this season is maybe Florida State fans will quit talking about last season."

I am certainly not one to have a conspiracy that ESPN hates Florida State or that the company itself goes out of its way to disrespect the university. However, there are individuals out there who seem to generate engagement and traction from discussing the Seminoles (McElroy and Finebaum) so they benefit from the disagreements.

Overall, Finebaum works for the SEC Network and has gone out of his way to voice his displeasure about the Seminoles potentially joining the conference. People like him could be eating their words when Florida State has another successful campaign in 2024.
