FSU football's Garnet and Gold Spring Showcase scheduled for April 20th
The offseason is in full effect for the Florida State Seminoles. However, fans have a ton to be excited about since the Seminoles finished the 2023 season with a 13-1 record.
The offseason will be over before you know it as Florida State's Garnet and Gold Spring Showcase will still go as planned on April 20th. There are major renovations inside Doak Campbell Stadium, which will not be completed until the 2025 season.
This will be a Florida State football team that will be filled with newer faces on the roster. Players such as quarterback Jordan Travis, defensive end Jared Verse, and cornerback Renardo Green will not be suited up in the garnet and gold anymore.
However, the Seminoles had a huge offseason when it came to acquiring talent via the transfer portal where they picked up fifteen transfers to fill remaining needs on the roster. Fans will have to practice their pronunciation and jersey numbers for this variety of players.
Head football coach Mike Norvell and the company are attempting to bring sustainable success to a proud football program with a rich tradition. Fans have certainly seen the vast improvement as the Seminoles have a combined 23-4 record in the last 27 games.
Typically, when Florida State schedules its spring game, they try to line it up with the Seminoles' baseball and softball homestands so that they can embrace other programs with the university.
However, the Florida State baseball program will be playing Wake Forest on the road while the softball program will be playing Boston College on the road. While I do not make the schedule, it would have probably been wise to schedule the spring game on April 13th since the baseball program has a home game against Miami at home while softball plays Notre Dame at home.
Nonetheless, it will be great to see the Seminoles' football team back in Doak Campbell Stadium (lower capacity due to the construction) as they look to avenge the College Football Playoff committee's snub.
