FSU football: Running list of all preseason watch list candidates
By Kelvin Hunt
Do you need more proof that FSU football won't fall back into mediocrity after going 23-4 over the last two seasons and having 10 players selected in the 2024 NFL Draft? Look no further than the amount of FSU players on the Preseason National Awards Watch Lists. They release new ones nearly daily, so I thought it's easiest to group them all in one spot. Below are the FSU football players recognized on these lists:
DJ Uiagalelei on several lists makes sense. He's a former five-star recruit with experience in over 40 college games, playing in some big-time atmospheres. His experience molded into Mike Norvell's offense should produce the best numbers of his career. What's telling about most of the other guys receiving recognition? They are homegrown talent from the high school ranks. So much for other programs attempting to push the false narrative, that they don't develop talent out of high school. There are likely way more players who'll appear on several watch lists. Patrick Payton, Joshua Farmer, and AZ Thomas are more players FSU developed straight out of high school. Fentrell Cypress and Sione Lolohea are former All-Conference players who could see their names on a few lists. This 2024 team has a ton of talent and likely deeper than FSU has been in the last 6-7 years. It's not a reach to say they could have close to 10 more guys selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. They may not have six guys in the top 100 again, but they have some guys who'll go early. Stay tuned as we continue to add to these National Watch Lists.
