FSU football: Offense pathetic in loss to Memphis Tigers
By Kelvin Hunt
The FSU offense sucked in the first half and only managed 12 points against one of the worst defenses in college football. They couldn't block an undersized Memphis defensive front, with DJ Uiaglalei running for his life on multiple occasions. They turned the ball over twice in the first half(special teams one a turnover in the first half too). Those two turnovers turned into 10 points for the Memphis Tigers. Multiple players dropped passes from DJ Uiagalelei in crucial situations. FSU only managed 238 yards and was 2 of 12 on third down. FSU had 36 rushing yards for the entire game.
FSU may not win more than one game if some things don't change. There is no cohesion. Players can't execute basic blocks, and when the plays are there to be made, they drop the ball or can't make a guy miss 1-on-1 in wide open space.
The defense didn't play perfect but holding Memphis to 20 points is an excellent effort, considering FSU turned the ball over three times in the first half. The defense allowed a touchdown on the first possession Memphis had in the second half and held them scoreless the rest of the way, including giving the FSU offense TWO possessions to score at the end of the game.
I said it was time to move on from DJ Uiagalelei after the Boston College loss. This loss wasn't totally on him, but something HAS to change because Mike Norvell is on the verge of losing this team if they keep doing the same thing over and over.
