FSU football ranked No. 10 in the recent Preseason Coaches Poll released earlier this week. I made the case that FSU should have a higher ranking than the three teams placed ahead of them here. However, despite the ranking, FSU isn't among the top 10 teams with the best odds to make the College Football Playoff, according to Fanduel:

  • Ohio State: -650
  • Georgia: -600
  • Oregon: -300
  • Texas: -220
  • Notre Dame: -165
  • Penn State: -145
  • Ole Miss: -130
  • Alabama: +130
  • LSU: +125
  • Michigan: +150

The Noles are No. 11 with +160 odds to make the College Football Playoff. If you bet $100 on the Noles, you'd win $160 if they made the College Football Playoff. It's unsurprising to see the SEC with five schools in the top 10. However, I doubt they will get that many teams in. Michigan has three tough games with Texas, Oregon, and Ohio State. FSU will have a good shot of remaining undefeated going into the Clemson game at Doak Campbell Stadium. It's Miami and Notre Dame standing in their way to finish out the season. They could lose two of those three games(since Notre Dame isn't an ACC game) and still win the ACC, which automatically puts them in the College Football Playoffs. If you wanted to really gamble, a $250 bet would win $400, and a $500 bet would win $800. One downside to this bet is whatever you bet would be tied up for the next few months while waiting to see if you'd win or not. The odds could change depending on how the season goes for the Noles. They have a great shot at making the College Football Playoffs, barring major injuries.
