FSU football: Noles fall from No. 10 to unranked after 0-2 start
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football started the 2024 preseason with the No. 10 ranking. I argued a few teams ranked ahead didn't deserve those spots. I wasn't wrong, as Notre Dame, Michigan, and Penn State didn't look super impressive by any stretch. However, I(along with everyone else) was dead wrong about this 2024 FSU football team. I was so wrong that the Noles find themselves no longer in the top-25 rankings after back-to-back embarrassing losses to open the 2024 season. The Noles have looked so bad they are not in the others receiving votes section. They are so bad that Georgia Tech didn't make the top 25 after winning their second game in week one after beating FSU in Ireland. FSU football fans will defend their team to the death, but when FSU is terrible, there is no sugar-coating anything. FSU fans believe FSU doesn't deserve a ranking and likely won't say they deserve a top 25 ranking again unless they pull off some magical run and win the next 6-7 games in a row.
I thought the Georgia Tech loss should have been a gut-check time for this team, but I guess not. If this program has any type of solid foundation, we'll get to see it after they go through this bye week and face Mike Norvell's former school in week three. Memphis is a good team, and I wouldn't be shocked to see FSU as underdogs at home in that game. That's how bad they looked in the first two weeks. FSU has a week to figure things out, but I can't imagine what a loss to Memphis would do to this fan base.
Miami is the highest-ranked ACC team at No. 15. Clemson falls from No. 14 to No. 21 and NC State is at No. 22. Louisville rounds out the ACC teams at No. 24.
