It's unbelievable how the 2024 season started for ACC teams. Most folks probably expected Clemson to lose to Georgia in their season opener, but I don't even think rival fans would have realistically predicted a 0-2 start for the Noles. The two teams suing to leave the ACC haven't won a game yet, and the trolls are having a field day with it. It still doesn't change the fact they both need to leave the conference. Nevertheless, besides FSU, ACC teams won the games they were supposed to win, except Virginia Tech, who choked badly in overtime against Vanderbilt.

Miami thrashed Florida on the road. NC State pulled away from Western Carolina. Wake Forest thrashed Furman, and North Carolina needed a missed field goal by Minnesota to win as time expired. Duke smashed Elon, and Stanford blew a halftime lead against TCU. Louisville destroyed Austin Peay, and Pittsburgh rolled Kent State. Syracuse put Ohio away, and California beat UC Davis. Virginia beat Richmond. Georgia Tech beat Georgia St., and SMU beat Houston Christian for their second win after playing in week zero. Here are my ACC power rankings after week one:

  1. Miami
  2. Georgia Tech
  3. Louisville
  4. SMU
  5. Boston College
  6. Duke
  7. Pittsburgh
  8. Syracuse
  9. North Carolina
  10. NC State
  11. Virginia
  12. California
  13. Wake Forest
  14. Virginia Tech
  15. Clemson
  16. Stanford
  17. FSU

Listen, don't hold my feet to the fire with some of these. I'm sure this will change drastically once most of these teams stop playing cupcakes. This is a good starting point, but it looks like Miami is the clear favorite after one week. Florida is terrible, but the Hurricanes play a cupcake schedule and two teams we thought would give them programs (Virginia Tech and FSU) look terrible.
