FSU football is in a place nobody expected them to be after two games into the 2024 season. The Noles are 0-2 against teams who were barely .500 last season. They have only scored three touchdowns in eight quarters, and opposing offenses convert third downs at a 56 percent clip. The offense built for playmakers averages 5.03 yards per play, while the defense has allowed 5.88 yards per play.

It's an offense most expected to be inside the top 30 at worst and a defense expected to be inside the top 15 at worst. How could this happen with improving high school recruiting over the past two seasons and another talented transfer portal recruiting class stack with former blue-chip players? I gave the coaching staff the benefit of the doubt because they had proven they could thread the needle between the two recruiting arenas better than any team in college football. It's why they went 23-4 in the 2022-23 seasons. However, in hindsight, there were three major red flags missed in the offseason.
