FSU football: Media gets 2024 All-ACC Preseason First Team wrong just like 2023
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football had four players selected to the 2023 All-ACC Preseason team last year. However, FSU won the ACC with an undefeated regular season and placed eight players on the All-ACC First Team. Once again, the media placed four players on the 2024-All-ACC Preseason team:
- Darius Washington-OL
- Maurice Smith-OL
- Joshua Farmer-DT
- Alex Mastromanno-P
Once again, the media will be wrong when the 2024 regular season concludes. How can the media have FSU as the favorite to win the ACC again and only have four first-team All-ACC players? How can Miami lead the ACC with five players on the All-ACC Preseason First Team but only receive 17 first-place votes as a team? Cam Ward as the ACC Preseason Player of the Year? How? His team went 5-7 last year in the Pac-12, and he was a turnover machine. The media put Xavier Restrepo on the first team when 70 percent of his receptions came in non-conference play last year. Rueben Bain was All-ACC Third Team at the end of last year and now he's already on the All-ACC First Team? It's obvious the media doesn't do their homework and randomly selects stuff. I mean, we did have folks giving California and Boston College first-place votes in the ACC Preseason Polls on Wednesday. FSU has several guys who have the potential to make the All-ACC First Team at the end of the year:
- Roydell Williams
- Patrick Payton
- Marvin Jones Jr.
- Darrell Jackson
- Shyheim Brown
- AZ Thomas
- Fentrell Cypress
I think we'll revisit this post in a few months and not be shocked unless the ACC media wants to show their bias because FSU will be leaving the ACC sooner rather than later.
