FSU football recruiting sent shockwaves through the industry over the past week, adding five blue-chip commitments to its 2025 recruiting class. One was a highly-coveted big-bodied wide receiver with great speed to stretch the field vertically in CJ Wiley. FSU looks to be selective at the receiver position after signing several in the 2024 recruiting cycle. They're recruiting to fill needs, and a major target is blue-chip Daylan McCutcheon. McCutcheon would be a great contrast to Wiley as a slot receiver. He is listed as 5'11" and 175 pounds and ranks as the No. 102 player nationally. He ranks as the No. 14 receiver and No. 18 player in Texas. McCutcheon set a commitment date for July 13th and will choose between FSU, Texas, Ohio State, USC, and SMU.

McCutcheon took official visits to all five schools, with SMU and Ohio State in May. The other three took place in June, with FSU getting the final visit. It was the same weekend FSU hosted 18 other highly-coveted players, and four have committed to the Noles over the past week. Can FSU land the out-of-state product? They seem to be in a good spot and have some predictions favoring the Noles. However, as we saw with other out-of-state players earlier on Monday, it's difficult to get players to travel across multiple states. Texas does not have any receiver commits currently and has one of the better quarterbacks committed in KJ Lacey from Alabama. The Longhorns have had solid production at the receiver spot over the last two seasons. FSU has had great production, and its offenses have been among the best over the past two seasons under Mike Norvell. It would be foolish to rule out Ohio State with Brian Hartline too. Two weeks is a lot of time in the recruiting game with how NIL and everything influences things nowadays. We'll have to keep our ears to the streets to see how things unfold between now and then. He would be a MASSIVE addition if the Noles got the commitment.
