FSU football: Impact players for the Seminoles versus Memphis
RB LAWRANCE TOAFILI
Florida State came into the 2024 season with an anticipation that they would be able to run the football effectively. Even though the Seminoles had to replace the likes of do-it-all Trey Benson, who accumulated 1,800+ rushing yards and 23 touchdowns during his two seasons in Tallahassee, the coaching staff thought that they would not lose a step in 2024.
The program added two running back transfers this offseason in Alabama's Roydell Williams and Indiana's Jaylin Lucas (who announced that he would be out for the remainder of the 2024 season).
Then Florida State returned pieces such as Lawrance Toafili, Samuel Singleton Jr., and Caziah Holmes. Toafili had a productive end to last season where he was named MVP of the ACC Championship Game versus Louisville.
However, the former four-star prospect has not gotten off to a good start in 2024. Besides the 28-yard touchdown run versus Georgia Tech in the opening series, he has been non-existent. I expect the veteran to get back on track and try to establish the run early and often.
