FSU football landed its 12th commitment in the 2025 recruiting class when four-star wide receiver Daylan McCutcheon announced his commitment to the Noles Saturday afternoon. McCutcheon chose the Noles over Texas, USC, Ohio State, and others and was one of the top receiving targets for the Noles. McCutcheon is the second receiver commitment in the class, making it two for two with FSU's top targets. McCutcheon ranks as the No. 93 player and the No. 14 receiver nationally. He's the No. 18 player from the Longhorn State (Texas). McCutcheon is a great complement to FSU's other big-bodied wide receiver commit, CJ Wiley. He lists at 5' 11" at 175 pounds and will play in the slot. He's been productive in high school and had 92 receptions for 1,430 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns as a junior. He's already a solid route runner with strong hands and could play quickly if he enrolls early.

FSU landing McCutcheon is a big get from an ability standpoint but also from a perception deal. FSU has concentrated mostly on Georgia and Florida for most of its top targets. However, landing a composite top 100 player nationally over in-state Texas and a USC program that's landed some big targets early in this recruiting cycle is a great sign for the Noles. FSU took several blue-chip recruiting targets in the 2024 recruiting cycle, and landing two of their top guys so far in the 2025 recruiting cycle means they don't have much work left at the position. The challenge will be holding on two these top receiver recruits. However, FSU has landed some top blue-chip quarterbacks and offensive linemen in the last few recruiting cycles to lay a solid foundation for years to come. If you want to talk about stacking elite talent? That's what it looks like.
