FSU football: Five-star LB target Zayden Walker visits the Noles on January 20th
FSU football currently ranks No. 17 in the 247Sports Composite rankings for the 2025 recruiting cycle. The Seminoles are sitting in a great position with three commitments in five-star offensive tackle Solomon Thomas, four-star linebacker Ethan Pritchard, and four-star quarterback Tramell Jones Jr.
Florida State's coaching staff is not done with acquiring highly-touted prospects in the cycle. One target to monitor is five-star linebacker Zayden Walker from Schley County High School in Ellaville, Georgia.
According to a report from On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons, Walker is scheduled to unofficially visit Florida State on January 20th. He also has other visits scheduled as well: Georgia (January 13), Miami (January 27), and South Carolina (February 3).
The Schley County High School standout took an unofficial visit to the Seminoles when Florida State defeated their arch-rival Miami Hurricanes on November 11th. One aspect to monitor is that Walker's brother (Class of 2024 four-star defensive back Jalewis Solomon) is signed with South Carolina.
Linebacker recruiting has always been a topic of discussion, especially since acquiring the position has been somewhat disappointing during the last few cycles (minus four-star Blake Nichelson due to the relationship with Darrick Yray).
The Seminoles were optimistic about acquiring four-star linebacker Zydrius Rainey-Sale from Spanaway, Washington and he even had crystal ball predictions in favor of Florida State after an unofficial visit to Tallahassee. However, on January 8th, he elected to stay home and commit to Washington.
This makes adding Zayden Walker even more important. When it comes to the position group in 2024, the Seminoles are having to replace redshirt seniors Kalen DeLoach and Tatum Bethune as well as redshirt junior DJ Lundy (who transferred to Colorado).
It might seem like an uphill battle to obtain Walker's services, but Florida State needs to continue to push in the recruitment especially since it is such a dire need.
