FSU football: DJ Uiagalelei injured, Brock Glenn expected to start against Clemson
By Kelvin Hunt
Is the future now for FSU football? FSU starting quarterback DJ Uiagalelei suffered an injury to a finger in the SMU game Saturday night. Brock Glenn entered the game to replace him, though Mike Norvell stated he planned to put Glenn in at that point regardless of the injury. Many fans have lobbied for Brock Glenn to replace Uiagalelei since the Boston College game. I called for a change after that game too. However, Mike Norvell felt Uiagalelei gave the Noles the best chance to win.
Things haven't improved on offense, as FSU hasn't scored more than 14 points since the season opener against Georgia Tech. I was all for Brock Glenn getting the start but argued why it would be in FSU's and Brock's best interest to wait until after the Clemson game.
That looks unlikely, and it's next man up. At least it's a home game, and Brock Has faced a top-tier defense before when he played against the Georgia Bulldogs in the Orange Bowl last December. My main concern is escaping that game without injury so he can continue to get reps with a bye-week coming after this week. The second half of the season is manageable from a defenses FSU will face deal. Miami is decent, and Notre Dame has a good defense. However, Brock Glenn playing in these games allows Mike Norvell to see if Glenn has any upside with 2025 season on deck.
I hope fans have no delusions of winning on Saturday night and don't start trashing Brock Glenn if he doesn't play well. Clemson has the best defense FSU will have faced by far this year. Miami's freshman quarterback Emory Williams faced Clemson last year and beat them, so anything is possible. It's what we ask for, and now it's time to show support.
