FSU football fans had their doubts creep in as the Seminoles have not acquired a single transfer prospect. However, on Monday afternoon, everything changed.

Can you ever doubt the ability of head football coach Mike Norvell's ability to grab highly-touted prospects in the transfer portal? After all, Coach Norvell is regarded by some individuals as the "Transfer Portal King".

Georgia sophomore defensive end transfer Marvin Jones Jr. has announced that he will be committing to Florida State. Everything started to trend quickly for the Seminoles as Jones Jr. took a campus visit this weekend.

His father, Marvin "Shade Tree" Jones, was a legendary linebacker who played for the Seminoles from 1990-1992. While Florida State was not recruiting Jones Jr. because of his father, Seminole fans have fallen in love with the legacy story from the family.

The former five-star prospect in the 2022 recruiting cycle had considered pledging to the Florida State Seminoles. However, he elected to sign with the Georgia Bulldogs instead. During his two-year playing career with the Bulldogs, he recorded 16 total tackles and two sacks as a reserve. It was not quite the career that Jones Jr. expected to have when he chose Georgia.

Fast forward to Florida State, the Seminoles have a real need for defensive ends as redshirt junior Jared Verse will likely be declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft soon. While I am not suggesting that Jones Jr. will have the statistical season that the Albany transfer did in 2022 and 2023, Florida State's coaching staff has had great success in developing transfer portal defensive ends.

All in all, it is fun to see how winning cures everything. Florida State is currently sitting there with a 13-0 record (thanks for the College Football Playoff invite, committee...) and has the college football world excited for their future.
