FSU football only has two scholarship quarterbacks on its roster as 2024 begins. Brock Glenn, who made his second career start in the Orange Bowl, and freshman Luke Kromenhoek, who hasn't even taken a class at FSU yet. Kromenhoek signed with the Noles during the Early Signing Period and began practicing with the Noles as they prepared for the Orange Bowl. FSU can't go into the 2024 season with that much inexperience or lack of depth, so they began their search for a transfer portal QB weeks ago. Washington State's Cam Ward and Oregon State's DJ Uiagalelei have been the main targets. It appears the latter could choose to return to the ACC if things keep trending in the same direction.

Three 247 crystal ball predictions to FSU have posted in the last 12 hours. They came from two national recruiting guys, and FSU's Chris Nee who, usually is solid when it comes to recruiting predictions. Uiagalelei, a former five-star signee with Clemson, seemed ecstatic after interviewing with media on his visit to Tallahassee in early December. He's the last quarterback to defeat FSU in the regular season, a six-point win in Tallahassee in the 2022 season. I broke down his strengths and weaknesses below.

The fan base seems split on Uiagalelei and Ward. The latter is entertaining the rival Miami Hurricanes or entering the NFL Draft. I've been on record that I think FSU would be fine with either quarterback. They both have pros and cons, and I have faith Mike Norvell would maxmize the strengths of whoever commits. Uiagalelei is the more proven guy when it comes to winning and has more experience playing at a high level.

Either way, FSU has to get going in the transfer portal, with the spring semester beginning soon. A commitment from Uiagalelei could spark some much-needed momentum after the last month of negative press.
