FSU football: College GameDay picks the FSU-BC Labor Day Night game
Florida State football had a forgettable performance versus Georgia Tech in their season opener as they lost the game by a score of 24-21. This had many Seminole fans wondering how the program will respond as Boston College comes to Tallahassee on Labor Day night at 7:30 PM EST on ESPN.
The Seminoles have an opportunity to prove the doubters wrong as Florida State still has its dreams and aspirations in front of them. Many fans thought that corporations such as ESPN would bash the Seminoles after their loss. There will always be ESPN's Paul Finebaum and Greg McElroy who will continue to dislike the program.
However, individuals such as Robert Griffin III (formerly with ESPN before he was laid off from the company) and ESPN's Desmond Howard have been supporters of the program. The College GameDay show came around on Saturday morning. Before the conclusion of the show, they pick the week's matchups.
When they started to select the games, the Florida State versus Boston College game was featured in the picks. I originally thought that the entire College GameDay other than Howard would poke at the Seminoles' loss to Georgia Tech last week.
However, the entire College GameDay crew selected Florida State to win the game. I was shocked honestly, I thought someone like Kirk Herbstreit would pick the Eagles.
Much of the consensus was that Florida State had a bad loss versus Georgia Tech and needed to respond. All of them felt like the Seminoles would do what they had to do to respond to the loss.
Herbstreit did add that it could be a close one since Boston College has dual-threat quarterback Thomas Castellanos. That is a fair assessment since Castellanos had a nice performance in the 2023 loss where he had 305 passing yards and 95 rushing yards.
I hope that Florida State will not have a scare this time around.
