FSU football: Bettors looking at California like free money against FSU

FSU football has failed to cover the betting spread in all three games as betting favorites in 2024. FSU were -17, -10, and -7 and lost all three games outright. FSU will host new ACC members, California Bears on Saturday night, and the betting line opened at -6.5 on multiple platforms. However, bettors wasted no time betting on California to cover the spread, as the line has been bet down to -2.5 for a home game in Tallahassee. That's how far FSU has fallen, and I'm surprised they opened as that big of a betting favorite, considering the offense can't score.

California is making the trip from the West Coast to the East Coast, but they did so two weeks ago in their upset of the Auburn Tigers as +11 betting underdogs. FSU is the more talented team, but that's been the case for the first three games. FSU has tons more talent, but that talent isn't playing together as a team, especially on offense.

The defense has played well enough to win all three games, but the offense has been anemic. FSU has had poor quarterback play, offensive line play, tight end play, and wide receiver play, and the running backs haven't had many open lanes to run. However, in the rare instances they get into 1-on-1 situations against defenders, they can't make them miss or break tackles.

I truly believe FSU would be 3-0 IF they had better quarterback play since that's who the team follows. FSU players and fans have no confidence in DJ Uiagalelei. I guess it's the potential of what FSU could do that gives oddsmakers pause after three games. However, betting against FSU looks like free money at this point.
