FSU football: Alabama cornerback transfer Earl Little Jr. trending to the Noles?
FSU football fans have expressed concerns about the Seminoles' ability to acquire transfers this offseason. However, head football coach Mike Norvell has been exceptional with filling the roster with high-quality transfers during his tenure in Tallahassee.
However, the Seminoles have been only able to pick up two transfers thus far this offseason in Oregon State quarterback DJ Uiagalelei and Georgia defensive end Marvin Jones Jr.
Florida State is hosting several transfers this weekend on official visits such as offensive lineman Terrence Ferguson, defensive lineman Grady Kelly, linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green, linebacker Stefon Thompson, and defensive back Earl Little Jr.
Alabama defensive back Earl Little Jr. is an intriguing option in the transfer portal. As reported earlier in the week, the redshirt freshman is taking an official visit to Tallahassee this weekend. He is a very talented piece that can be utilized as depth as well as possesses a high upside.
On Friday afternoon, Noles247 FSU Insider Brendan Sonnone put in a transfer portal crystal ball prediction in favor of the Florida State Seminoles.
This makes perfect sense as Little Jr. is best friends with transfer signee Marvin Jones Jr., his high school head football coach was defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr., and he has a great relationship with head football coach Mike Norvell. While the Seminoles struck out on Little Jr. during the 2022 recruiting process, Florida State has showcased its ability to finally emphasize consistency within its football program after winning 23 of its last 27 games.
Florida State was in it until the very end with the South Florida native. However, he chose to sign with the Alabama Crimson Tide. Relationships from the recruitment seem to keep the Seminoles in the conversation when he entered the transfer portal.
While the cornerback position isn't a dire need for Florida State at this time, they do have to replace the likes of redshirt seniors Jarrian Jones and Renardo Green as well as potentially junior Fentrell Cypress II (who has not announced if he will declare for the 2024 NFL Draft or not).
Earl Little Jr. is a prospect that the Seminoles feel can elevate their room at the position for the future of the program. I firmly believe that this would be a phenomenal pickup for a Florida State football team that needs to continue stockpiling talent for the years to come.
