FSU football signed 22 high school players in its 2024 recruiting class on the first day of the Early Signing Period on Wednesday. FSU went into the day with a top-five recruiting class, hoping to flip five-star Jeremiah Smith and keep five-star KJ Bolden. However, Smith stuck with his longtime commitment to Ohio State, and KJ Bolden flipped to Georgia, and five-star Armondo Blount flipped to Miami, dropping the Noles to No. 10. The latter was expected, but Bolden's recruitment was one everyone felt like the Noles could hold onto even though rumors began to swirl late.

Bolden told one site he knew he would sign with Georgia three weeks ago. Guess what happened around that time? The College Football Playoff Committee snubbed the Noles from their spot in the four-team playoff. What's crazy is he took his official visit to FSU less than a week ago and brought his entire family. I suppose many of the rules that folks that follow recruiting used to follow can be thrown out of the window. There is no such thing as following the visits or getting the final official visit close to the signing period that means much anymore. Here are five major takeaways from the Early Signing Day.
