FSU football: 4-star OL Josh Petty trending elsewhere?

The FSU football 2025 recruiting class looks excellent, with 13 commitments and a 92.3 percent blue-chip ratio. The coaching staff only has a few more needs to address, with likely fewer than 10 targets remaining. One target is four-star offensive lineman Josh Petty. FSU has been among the top schools for Petty. He officially visited in June, along with several other major targets. His sister is at Florida State. However, the hometown school, Georgia Tech, continues to push for his services. The Yellow Jackets got him on campus at the end of July, which wasn't a good sign for the Noles. However, FSU convinced him to visit the next day and had an opportunity to offset any ground the Yellow Jackets made up. He's set to announce his commitment on August 12th, but did the Noles quell any Georgia Tech momentum? Two predictions favoring the Yellow Jackets were placed by On3 analysts, one the well-respected recruiting guru Steve Wiltfong.

They have a six out of 10 confidence, which is usually standard. That's usually not a great sign for FSU. However, the predictions across the industry have been anything but locks in this recruiting cycle. FSU received commitments from two blue-chip players, and mostly everyone thought would go elsewhere. I'm not saying that's the case here, and there are still a few days before Petty's announcement. FSU already has two top 10 offensive linemen in its class. Georgia Tech has five offensive linemen committed. If Petty chooses Georgia Tech, it could be a variety of factors. Georgia Tech is a few miles from home, they have great academics, and maybe it's a guy they want to splurge on NIL-wise since the rest of their class is mediocre. If he chooses the Yellow Jackets, I doubt the recruitment would be over. I guess we'll find out in a few days.
