FSU football: 4 questions that fans should be monitoring before the Signing Period begins
CAN FSU FIND A WAY TO KEEP FIVE-STAR DEFENSIVE LINEMAN ARMONDO BLOUNT IN THE CLASS?
For the most part, I am generally optimistic when it comes to Florida State football. I genuinely like what the coaching staff is doing in terms of recruiting.
However, as I alluded to previously, recruiting is such an unpredictable game. Florida State was able to get fantastic news in October where the Seminoles were able to flip five-star defensive lineman Armondo Blount from Miami Central High School in Miami (FL) from the hometown Miami Hurricanes.
To make matters even better, the talented defender was reclassified from the 2025 recruiting cycle to 2024. At that moment in time, it was great to see Florida State win such a pivotal recruiting battle.
However, South Florida prospects are known for their unpredictability as Blount started to get more buzz about flipping back to the Miami Hurricanes heading into December. Head football coach Mario Cristobal is known for being a relentless recruiter.
Blount had an official visit scheduled with Florida State this past weekend, but he elected to cancel the trip and decided to visit Miami instead. This basically sent a message to the coaching staff that he was intending on choosing to commit back to the Hurricanes during the Early Signing Period.
While it is potentially going to be a bummer for the staff, the hope is that Florida State can be able to convince four-star defensive end target Amaree Williams (reclassified from 2025 to 2024) from The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach (FL) to sign in December.
