FSU football: 2024 five-star DE Amaree Williams visiting Noles this weekend
FSU football has had a ton of positive momentum in their 2024 recruiting class where they currently rank number three in the 247Sports Composite rankings.
However, the coaching staff could be experiencing a setback soon as it has been announced that five-star defensive end commit Armondo Blount will be canceling his official visit with Florida State this weekend and will be visiting Miami instead. This is certainly disheartening given that Blount just de-committed from the Hurricanes and committed to Florida State on October 22nd.
Some fans were pushing the panic buttons due to the recruiting efforts of the staff. However, head football coach Mike Norvell and company always seem to have a backup plan when it comes to acquiring prospects in their recruiting classes.
On Thursday afternoon, 247Sports Director of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong reported that Class of 2025 five-star athlete (recruited as a defensive end) Amaree Williams from The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach, Florida will be reclassifying to the 2024 class and will be officially visiting Florida State this weekend.
This is a massive development for the Seminoles as the defensive line is a big priority to acquire in this recruiting class. If Blount does ultimately end up signing with Miami, Florida State would only be left with four-star defensive end DD Holmes and three-star defensive tackle Jamorie Flagg.
For reference, the Early Signing Period begins on December 20th. Florida State has 23 prospects committed to their class. However, they would like to go big-game hunting for a variety of prospects in the 2024 cycle such as five-star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, five-star defensive lineman LJ McCray, and three-star defensive tackle D'Nas White.
Buckle up Seminole fans, this could be an epic finish for a coaching staff that is looking to put a bow on a wonderful 2023 season!
