FSU football: 3 underrated offensive weapons for the Seminoles in 2024
WR DARION WILLIAMSON
Florida State will have to replace the likes of Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman, who will be navigating over to the NFL. As a result, the Seminoles had to go to the transfer portal this offseason to acquire Alabama's Malik Benson and LSU's Jalen Brown.
The coaching staff thinks that Benson could be the number-one option in the Seminoles' offense for 2024. This is a large expectation for the former Alabama transfer after he only recorded 162 yards and one touchdown last year. However, he has proven to be the most consistent wide receiver on the roster during camp.
Individuals start to wonder who could emerge as a contributor at wide receiver behind him. Players that usually get mentioned are Hykeem Williams, Ja'Khi Douglas, Kentron Poitier, Elijah Moore, and Lawayne McCoy. However, there is one name that fans always seem to forget about.
It is redshirt senior wide receiver Darion Williamson. I realize that the Tennessee native has had his fair share of injuries that have kept him sidelined. However, when he has been healthy, Williamson has seen the field and shown flashes of being serviceable.
During the 2023 season, he recorded nine receptions for 127 yards and one touchdown. Williamson is entering his final season of collegiate football and wants to prove that he can stay healthy and be a piece of the Seminoles' offense.
