FSU extends an offer to 4-star CB target Chris McCorkle after Junior Day visit
FSU football currently has the thirteenth-best recruiting class according to the 2025 247Sports Composite rankings. However, the Seminoles only have four prospects committed to the fold.
Florida State continues pursuing highly-touted prospects as they complete their latest Junior Day event. While there has only been one prospect committed in the calendar with four-star defensive end Javion Hilson, who flipped from Alabama to Florida State, there are a multitude of prospects that are heavily interested in the program.
The defensive back position is a group that has been recruited very well since the hiring of Patrick Surtain Sr. due to his ability to connect with prospects in the state of Florida. He has coaching experience being the head football coach at American Heritage High School a few years back.
While he has not been able to secure a prospect for the position yet, he has continued to expand the recruiting board with talented options. We already discussed four-star cornerback Gregory Xavier Thomas, who plays at American Heritage High School, in a previous article.
Plus, there are other defensive back options such as four-star Chris Ewald, four-star Antonio Branch Jr., four-star Jett White (Maryland commit), four-star Darrell Johnson, and four-star Hylton Stubbs.
One option that is emerging as a serious target for the Seminoles is four-star cornerback Chris McCorkle from Cardinal Mooney High School in Sarasota (FL). He visited this weekend in Tallahassee for Florida State's Junior Day event. This marked the second visit to the Seminoles.
After meeting with various media members after his visit, he indicated that it could be his final visit before making a decision. During the visit, McCorkle was extended an offer by Florida State. The arch-rival Florida Gators are heavily in the mix for his recruitment and McCorkle even stated earlier this month that the Gators are a team that he is monitoring closely.
Overall, this would be a great acquisition for Surtain Sr. to grab in the 2025 recruiting cycle due to McCorkle's speed and length where he is listed at 6'1".
