FSU baseball (46-15) is one game closer to reaching the College World Series with a 24-4 destruction of the UConn Huskies Friday afternoon in Super Regional play. It was the largest margin of victory in Super Regional history, and the most runs scored. FSU starting pitcher Carson Dorsey went 5.1 innings, allowing four this, one earned run, three walks, and six strikeouts. The FSU offense provided a huge cushion early, scoring runs in the first three innings to build an 8-0 lead. Dorsey wasn't as sharp as his regional start but worked through a few jams, and the FSU bullpen got out of a bases loaded jam after he exited the game. Joe Charles, Conner Hults, Noah Short, and Ben Barrett saw action from the bullpen, which leaves the bullpen relatively fresh if needed over the next two days.

FSU started the scoring with a Marco Dinges two-run home run in the bottom of the first, and Jaime Ferrer hit a solo shot for back-to-back home runs. Max Williams continues to find his power surge with a three-run home run in the bottom of the second. Jaxson West had an RBI single before Cam Smith and James Tibbs walked with the bases loaded for two more runs. Jaime Ferrer hit his second home run, and D'Amez Ross hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to finish the scoring. FSU pounded 18 hits, 15 walks, three hit batters, and only struck out once. They were 7-14 with two-outs, 8-18 with RISP, and 5-8 with loaded bases. An important stat, they were 8-18 against left-handed pitching.

FSU couldn't ask to be in a better spot. They got a quality start from Carson Dorsey and didn't diminish the bullpen while knowing Jamie Arnold is on the mound for game two. He's been one of the best pitchers in college baseball, and UConn isn't an explosive offensive team. The second game will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday and will air on ESPN.
