FSU baseball: Noles rank top 15 in all polls, peaking at No. 8 nationally

FSU baseball (22-4, 5-4 ACC) had a great week last week, defeating rival Florida for the second time and winning its ACC series against Louisville. It was a great response after gifting Clemson two games and getting swept in a three-game series the week before. The Noles only need one more win to match last year's win total. FSU finds itself inside the top 15 in all three major baseball polls. D1 Baseball has the Noles at No. 14, Perfect Game as the Noles at No. 11, and Baseball America has the Noles peaking at No. 8 nationally. I don't see why teams play midweek games anymore since the losses in those games don't count for most teams. When it comes to RPI ranking, FSU ranks No. 2 nationally behind Clemson. I know FSU got penalized for getting swept by Clemson, but the more I think about it, the more I believe Clemson isn't as good as the polls suggest.
They have played 19 of their 27 games at home in that Cracker Jack High School stadium. Their offensive numbers away from that stadium are drastically different than when on the road, and they just went life and death with an average Miami team in Miami. I know the games will get played, and things will work themselves out, but that's something to take note of for future ACC series. The Noles will play Jacksonville Tuesday night and Bethune Cookman Wednesday night before traveling to play Boston College in a three-game series next weekend. The Eagles went on the road and swept Georgia Tech this past weekend while a sizeable underdog in all three games. The two midweek games make this week tricky and it'll be interesting to see how Link Jarrett handles the pitching staff. It'll be key to be as efficient as possible so they will have arms ready for this weekend against Boston College.
