Tennessee Pitching

Tennessee does things a little differently. They take a committee approach to pitching, with several guys capable of starting, and several guys with at least 30 innings pitched. Almost all of them have ERAs under four and strikeout around a batter per inning pitched. One of the most impressive things is they don't walk many batters, which is why they are No. 2 nationally in WHIP. That could mean they are around the strike zone a lot or excellent at forcing batters to chase pitches out of the strike zone in hitter counts since they don't allow many hits.

The latter concerns me because FSU has the propensity to be overly aggressive sometimes at the plate while behind in the count. One thing to note is they are susceptible to the home run. Their top three pitchers have allowed 35 home runs. However, as we've mentioned, the park playing large goes both ways. In a one-off game, Tennessee probably has more reliable pitching options overall if the starter doesn't go deep into the game. Sometimes by design, they don't expect their starter to go deep into games with the committee approach.
