Decision day for Class of 2025 four-star IOL target Peyton Joseph
Florida State football fans have been through it all the last couple of days when it comes to recruiting. The Seminoles had a successful end of June by finishing on the commitments of four-star wide receiver CJ Wiley, four-star tight end Chase Loftin, four-star defensive tackles Kevin Wynn and Myron Charles as well as four-star cornerback Gregory Thomas.
However, the fan base is ready to bring out its pitchforks for linebackers coach Randy Shannon. While I don't think the blame should be placed solely on him, the Seminoles did strike out on three linebacker prospects with four-star Zaydrius Rainey-Sale (Washington), four-star Gavin Nix (Miami), and four-star Tavion Wallace (Arkansas) committing elsewhere.
It has been a challenging time for recruiting. However, the Fourth of July is supposed to bring fireworks where the excitement is throughout the air. Florida State has an opportunity to close on a talented prospect as four-star interior offensive lineman Peyton Joseph from Houston County High School in Warner Robins, Georgia will be making his decision today (7/4/2024).
Joseph was once pledged to the arch-rival Florida Gators, but he decided to de-commit and evaluate his recruitment (I don't blame him with Florida's rough slate in November).
The offensive lineman is choosing between Memphis and Florida State in his decision. The Memphis Tigers do have his high school quarterback (four-star Antwann Hill Jr.) in the fold. Familiarity could be a factor in Joseph choosing the Tigers.
However, he has visited Tallahassee on several occasions. It is also important to note that he officially visited the Seminoles during their massive June 21st recruiting weekend. Florida State has seen quite a bit of prospects that officially visited during the weekend commit to the program.
Even Joseph's "twin" (current offensive lineman Jeremiah Byers) is recruiting him to be a Florida State Seminole.
It also helps that he is cousins with current offensive lineman TJ Ferguson. While I get that the Seminoles were burned by a four-star linebacker Tavion Wallace choosing the Arkansas Razorbacks after stating that Florida State was the leader in his recruitment, I do expect Joseph to select the Seminoles today and give Alex Atkins his second offensive lineman commitment.
