BOOM! 4-star RB target Byron Louis commits to Florida State
Florida State football has been quite the struggle over the past couple of weeks. The losses of Georgia Tech, Boston College, and Memphis have made Seminole fans question with how good this football program is.
It isn't just the fans as some highly-touted prospects have even wondered how Florida State will respond to the slow start. It is understandable since they likely thought that the Seminoles will showcase their dominance after having an undefeated regular season and conference championship last year.
I realize that many of the contributors from that squad are off to the NFL. However, the program has to find ways to be successful so that they can add talented pieces for their future.
Head football coach Mike Norvell has always emphasized the importance of building the Seminoles' culture and getting the right prospects that fit what Florida State brings to the table. Norvell has been under pressure to perform after having his second 0-3 start in five years at Florida State.
The program has dealt with so much adversity ever since former quarterback Jordan Travis suffered a season-ending injury versus North Alabama in November 2023. Florida State also got snubbed by the College Football Playoff committee in favor of one-loss Alabama in December.
Recruiting has been a mess lately with four-star defensive end Javion Hilson and four-star defensive tackle Myron Charles (flipped to Texas) de-committed from the program. Florida State was starving for some good news.
Well... they got that news on Saturday afternoon as four-star running back Byron Louis from American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida has committed to Florida State over schools such as Miami, Georgia, and Wisconsin.
He is a high school teammate with four-star cornerback Greg Thomas (current commit of the Seminoles) and his former high school coach is Florida State defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr.
Louis had 1,200 rushing yards and 18 rushing touchdowns for American Heritage High School in 2023. He utilized his official visit to Florida State this summer and had always spoken highly of the program. With the Seminoles struggling this season to run the football, it is glad to see that Florida State continues to accumulate talent at the position.
