Action Network's Brett McMurphy is low on the Florida State Seminoles in 2024
Florida State football was ranked as the 10th-best team in the country according to the Coaches Poll for the 2024 season. The Seminoles are classified as the highest-ranked squad in the ACC. This is to be expected given that Florida State won the conference last season.
As the Coaches Poll was released, Action Network's Brett McMurphy released his own AP poll. It was certainly interesting, let's give it a look.
McMurphy went off the rails on his rankings for the 2024 season. Here is his top-15 AP Poll Ballot:
1. Oregon
2. Georgia
3. Ohio State
4. Texas
5. Alabama
6. Ole Miss
7. Penn State
8. Miami
9. Notre Dame
10. Utah
11. Kansas State
12. Oklahoma State
13. Clemson
14. Missouri
15. Florida State
THOUGHTS
Where do I even begin? McMurphy is new to college football expectations, including those of Notre Dame and Miami over Florida State. Both of the teams seem to have high hopes before their championship aspirations crumble by the month of November.
I have been on record saying that Miami has one of their best offenses in over a decade with veteran transfer Cameron Ward as the signal-caller. However, we all know how head football coach Mario Cristobal manages the football game (KNEEL THE FOOTBALL!).
As for Notre Dame, it will be a challenge for the Seminoles to go to South Bend in November. However, we saw how Florida State performed against Riley Leonard when he was the quarterback for the Duke Blue Devils last season.
Overall, I understand the concerns for Florida State football in 2024. There is a massive question mark replacing the wide receiver position after Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson went to the NFL. I know that Alabama transfer Malik Benson will be the number-one option but who will be the rotation after him?
I don't think the program should be ranked at No. 15, I believe a more fair assessment should be around 9-11. However, I guess head football coach Mike Norvell and his squad will have to prove the doubters wrong once again.
