FSU football finished No. 6 in the final coaches poll for the 2023 season. FSU finished the regular season undefeated, and most of their top players opted out of the Orange Bowl after getting snubbed by the College Football Playoff Committee. The Noles lost against Georgia in that exhibition game 63-3, and the entire world thought it was over for FSU, especially since they would lose most of their top players to the 2024 NFL Draft. FSU had an ACC high 10 players drafted, with six drafted in the top 100. However, FSU's elite combination of high school and transfer portal recruiting over the past few seasons means there won't be much drop-off going into 2024. FSU could easily have close to 10 more players selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, and it's why they are the highest-ranked ACC in the latest 2024 Preseason Coaches Poll:

The Noles began the 2023 season at No. 8 before blasting top-five LSU for the second consecutive year. FSU will begin the 2024 season at No. 10, which means they're in a solid position to make the 12-team College Football Playoff as long as they don't have too many hiccups. They are betting favorites in nearly every game and will likely play a couple of ranked teams late in the year to boost their resume should they suffer a defeat at some point earlier in the year. It's crazy to see the favoritism already. How is Notre Dame at No. 7 when they went 10-3 last season? I have the same question for Penn State at No. 9. I know some of it is projections based on returning players and overall talent, but those teams have more questions than FSU. Luckily, we get to see the results play out on the field, but we know that doesn't mean what it used to, either.
