LB JUSTIN CRYER

This could be considered a bit of recency bias from the recent Orange Bowl contest versus the Georgia Bulldogs. I cringe every time I decide to go back and look at the highlights (who could blame me), but there are always positives that we can point to where we can pinpoint aspects.

True freshman linebacker Justin Cryer recorded a career-high six total tackles against the Bulldogs. He did a solid job in being able to come up in run support. He is listed as 6'1" and 225 pounds. As a result, it is notable that Cryer is a physical specimen on defense.

As I alluded to in a recent article, many fans cannot forget about another linebacker on the roster. However, the position is in search of options alongside veteran DJ Lundy. Cryer could be exactly what Florida State linebackers coach Randy Shannon is looking for.

Cryer only recorded 12 tackles in all of 2023. The Orange Bowl performance could be a situation where we could be giving the starting nod before we see him in a starting capacity.
