4-star WR target Daylan McCutcheon making a decision in the summer
Florida State does not have any wide receiver prospects committed to the 2025 recruiting cycle for four-star quarterback commit Tramell Jones Jr. to throw to. However, there are options available. Some fans were disappointed after targets such as five-star Jaime Ffrench Jr. and four-star Vernell Brown III began to trend towards Ohio State.
Wide receivers coach Ron Dugans has continued to put his recruiting hat on for the program. There was a portion of the fan base that became frustrated after the Seminoles did not secure any prospects at the position during the 2022 recruiting cycle. However, Dugans has showcased his recruiting prowess as he acquired seven prospects in the last two cycles.
One prospect to monitor at the wide receiver position in the 2025 class going forward is four-star Daylan McCutcheon from Lovejoy, Texas. The talented playmaker conducted an unofficial visit to the Seminoles during their second spring scrimmage.
McCutcheon had an interview with the media after his visit where he stated that Florida State is the school that he compares to the others. They have been at his top group of schools. Other teams involved in his recruitment are Ohio State, USC, and Texas.
He also stated that Florida State stands out because they are family-based compared to the other schools. The coaching staff wants to use McCutcheon as a wide receiver who can be used in the slot as well as out wide. He wants to make a decision in July or August before his senior season.
It is great that McCutcheon will use his final official visit to Florida State. This could be a major get for the Seminoles as the Texas native recorded over 1,400 yards and 19 touchdowns during his 2023 season. This would be a great start to the wide receiver class for the Seminoles in the 2025 cycle.
