4-star RB target Akylin Dear will be visiting FSU in the month of March
Florida State has made a name for itself when it comes to running the football. Head football coach Mike Norvell has emphasized the importance of being able to establish the running game in his offensive scheme.
When you look back at the last two seasons, veteran transfer Trey Benson was able to generate over 1,800 yards and 23 touchdowns for the Seminoles. However, the productive back has declared for the 2024 NFL Draft and is even classified as the number one prospect at his position on some of the NFL Draft Big Boards.
Running backs coach David Johnson has been able to allow his players to buy into a "next man up" approach even with a "crowded" backfield since transfer Roydell Williams and incoming freshmen Kameron Davis and Micahi Danzy joined the rotation.
Florida State has not secured a running back prospect in the recruiting class yet. As I alluded to in a previous article, Class of 2025 four-star Alvin Henderson has named the Seminoles the leader in his recruitment. However, another target has emerged on the target board.
According to a report from On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons, Class of 2025 four-star Akylin Dear from Quitman High School from Quitman (MS) will be visiting Florida State, Georgia, and Florida next month.
Dear is a talented back who rushed for over 2,000 yards and 27 touchdowns during the 2023 season. However, the productive prospect is from Mississippi, which is also worrisome due to recruits from the state are always entertaining the idea of staying home and going to one of the in-state schools such as Mississippi State or Ole Miss.
Even with Dear having a crystal ball prediction of Ole Miss from two weeks ago, it is encouraging that he is at least giving Florida State a fair chance in his recruitment.
