FSU football is currently ranked as the seventeenth-best recruiting class in the 2025 cycle. The Seminoles have only acquired four prospects in the fold. While the recruiting momentum has not presented itself even with the Seminoles' success in the 2023 season, it could start to heat up.

Florida State has not secured a commitment since four-star defensive end Javion Hilson de-committed from the Alabama Crimson Tide in January after legendary head football coach Nick Saban elected to retire.

Florida State is currently in the midst of Tour of Duty offseason conditioning workouts. However, it is encouraging that spring practices for the Seminoles begin on March 19th. There will be several recruits on campus to watch the practices as well as attend the Spring Showcase on April 20th.

One prospect that could be noteworthy to monitor is Class of 2025 four-star linebacker target Gavin Nix from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Nix recently visited their Junior Day event on February 3rd and has consistently showcased his interest in the football program.

According to a report from 247Sports' Tom Loy, the talented linebacker has a spring visit scheduled for March 30th. Unfortunately, the IMG Academy standout has trips lined up to Notre Dame (March 24), Ohio State (March 27), Miami (April 6), and Oregon (April 12) as well.

It seems to have become a three-team race with Florida State, Florida, and Miami with the prospect. However, there have been no crystal ball predictions in favor of any teams. There have been fans questioning the ability to land talented linebackers in previous cycles.

Luckily, linebackers coach Randy Shannon has four-star Ethan Pritchard committed to the fold. There is also a four-star target Tavion Wallace who has a crystal ball prediction in favor of Florida State. If the Seminoles find a way to sign Pritchard, Wallace, and Nix to the class, that could be a very nice way to gain talent for the future of the position room.
