4-star LB target Gavin Nix includes Florida State in top schools list
Florida State is currently listed outside the top 40 in the 247Sports Composite rankings for the 2025 recruiting cycle. The Seminoles have four commitments in the fold with five-star offensive lineman Solomon Thomas, four-star quarterback Tramell Jones Jr., four-star defensive end Javion Hilson, and four-star linebacker Ethan Pritchard.
However, the coaching staff has not secured a pledge since Hilson de-committed from the Alabama Crimson Tide and flipped to Florida State in January. Fans were starting to wonder since it is June, when will the Seminoles start to see commitments coming in?
However, as most individuals know, recruiting is ever-changing and it involves teenagers making one of the toughest decisions in their lifetimes. The Seminoles' coaching staff also wants to ensure that the recruit is the best fit for the university.
They only get one recruitment process as a high schooler to make the best decision. The coaching staff is looking to host several official visitors this month to hopefully generate momentum on the recruiting trail.
While I realize that the Seminoles already have four-star linebacker Ethan Pritchard from Seminole High School in Sanford, Florida in the fold, this is a great opportunity for Florida State to get two more talented prospects at the position.
One recruit to monitor this cycle is four-star linebacker Gavin Nix from IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. On Sunday afternoon, he dropped his top six schools list which included teams such as Florida State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Miami, Oregon, and Stanford.
It is important to note that Nix will be officially visiting the Seminoles on the weekend of June 21st when several highly-touted prospects will be on campus. While Florida State leads for four-star linebacker Tavion Wallace, it does not impact the recruitment of Nix.
We at ChopChat interviewed Nix a while back. If you would like to check it out, be sure to click here. This is a great opportunity for linebackers coach Randy Shannon to land yet another talented linebacker in this recruiting cycle.
