4-star DE target Amaree Williams announces his commitment date
FSU football did well constructing their 2024 recruiting class where it is classified as the tenth-best in the country according to 247Sports.
In today's college football recruiting landscape, the majority of prospects usually sign their National Letter of Intent during the Early Signing Period in December. However, back in the day, the focus revolved around the February signing period.
The good thing for Florida State's coaching staff is that they could have great news shortly as Class of 2024 four-star defensive end target Amaree Williams from The Benjamin School from North Palm Beach (FL) announced that he would be committing on February 3rd. It is worth noting that the signing period begins on February 7th.
For reference, Williams' top thirteen included Florida State, Georgia, Florida, Miami, Michigan, Alabama, Tennessee, Oregon, South Carolina, USC, Kentucky, Penn State, and Texas.
Williams was originally in the 2025 recruiting cycle. However, he reclassified to 2024. The talented defensive end elected to officially visit the Seminoles during the weekend of December 15th, which was the last weekend before the December 20th start of the Early Signing Period.
When the Benjamin School standout did not commit to Florida State during the Early Signing Period, fans began to think that Williams would not end up with the Seminoles. However, the four-star prospect still has two crystal ball predictions in favor of Florida State and has not taken another visit since he went to Tallahassee.
This would be a great addition to the Seminoles' 2024 recruiting class because they only have one defensive end prospect committed in the fold with four-star DD Holmes. While Williams would be 17 years old when he would sign, Florida State would have an opportunity to groom the defender into something special.
It looks like defensive ends coach John Papuchis could be getting him a very talented pass rusher in Tallahassee.
