Four-star DE target Amaree Williams is making a decision in the near future
FSU football is ranked as the tenth-best 2024 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. The Seminoles have 22 prospects signed at this time.
Florida State surprisingly added four-star quarterback Trever Jackson, who was formerly committed to the Ole Miss Rebels. It is assumed that Jackson will be a preferred walk-on prospect.
The world of college football recruiting has centered around the December Early Signing Period due to so many prospects signing to the school of their choice earlier. The days of most prospects deciding in February are over.
However, one prospect that the Seminoles could monitor is Class of 2024 four-star defensive end Amaree Williams from The Benjamin School in North Palm Beach (FL). He recently reclassified from the 2025 to the 2024 cycle.
It seemed to be going in a positive direction with Williams taking an official visit with the Seminoles on the weekend before the Early Signing Period. There was a feeling that the defensive end could potentially commit and sign with Florida State.
However, he elected to wait until after the Early Signing Period. This began to make Seminole fans panic given their whiffs on the recruiting trail with a variety of defensive end prospects. At this current moment, the only pass rusher signed with Florida State is four-star DD Holmes.
The good news is that Williams announced on his Instagram account (via his story) that he will be committing to the school of his choice in less than two weeks.
Florida State is currently the crystal ball prediction leader. While Williams will likely not contribute early on as a true freshman, given that he reclassified from the 2025 cycle, it is a great piece that the Seminoles can add to their position room. It will be great for Florida State to add a top-200 prospect to the fold.
