Florida State is currently listed as the 20th-best recruiting class in the 2025 cycle according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

The Seminoles currently have four exceptional prospects committed to the fold in five-star interior offensive lineman Solomon Thomas, four-star quarterback Tramell Jones Jr., four-star defensive end Javion Hilson, and four-star linebacker Ethan Pritchard.

While I realize that Florida State has not secured a commitment since January when Hilson de-committed from the Alabama Crimson Tide, the coaching staff is doing their best to acquire highly-touted prospects who want to be Seminoles.

Speaking of Hilson, he made a return trip to Tallahassee on Saturday. Florida State hosted several recruits this weekend for a Legacy Day where former players such as defensive end Jared Verse, defensive back Jammie Robinson, and long snapper James Rosenberry Jr. unveiled their All-American bricks that are on campus.

As it relates to the talented four-star defensive end, there was a previous report that suggested that the Crimson Tide could enter back into the recruitment of the Cocoa native. However, even with the push, the Seminoles were able to get him back on campus again.

Hilson posted on social media a picture of him and former defensive end Jared Verse as well as current defensive end Patrick Payton on his unofficial visit.

Florida State's coaching staff cannot afford to let a first-year Crimson Tide staff out-recruit them for Hilson, who has been committed to the program since January 16th. Alabama has already gotten a commitment from four-star safety Darrell "Duke" Johnson Jr. who was originally crystal balled to Florida State.

During the 2023 season, Hilson recorded 97 total tackles (27 for loss), 44 quarterback hurries, 14 sacks, three forced fumbles, two pass breakups, and one fumble recovery. Florida State needs a talented defender like Hilson in their plans for the future.
